George & Linda Pool

Founders

George has a BS in Engineering from Southern Methodist University and a MBA from Stanford University with a focus on Finance and Transportation. He is a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. After graduation, he started work with Export -Import Bank and this was followed with a position at Pan American Airlines where he financed for them the first two Boeing 747's that were manufactured by Boeing. Later, he worked for Morrison Knudsen as an Assistant Treasurer and Director of Project Financing for 15 years. Then he joined Lockheed Martin for 15 years as Director of Ventures and Alliances/Strategic Development. When he retired, he cofounded  PLCA for Kids  in 2005. He is a member of McCall Rotary, an Executive board member of the McCall Senior Citizens and past president. 

Linda has a BA in Elementary Education and  Minor in Pe and Psychology at San Jose State University as well as a MA in Reading and a Reading Specialist credential from Boise State University.  She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Linda founded the philanthropic group, Assistance League, of Northern Virginia. She taught Kindergarten for 5 years and substituted every grade K-8. Currently, she is a member and past president of Payette Lakes Progressive Club and co founder for the PLCA for kids in 2005. 

George and Linda have lived in McCall full-time since 2003 but have had a valley  county home since 1979. They have raised four children,  have six grandchildren and have raised 6 golden retrievers over the years. 

Our Board

  • Stefanie Bork - Board President

    Stefanie joined the board in 2017 and now sits as Vice President. Stefanie has been a resident in McCall since the age of twelve when her family moved to Mcall in 1997. Stefanie grew to love the McCall community and all it has to offer. She currently works with the Parks and Recreation Department and loves developing programming and promoting all the department has to offer. Prior to working for the City Stefanie worked for the McCall-Donnelly School District for seven years at BRMES. Stefanie is excited to bring her energy and skills to the PLCA and continue to develop a program necessary for our community children and families. When not at the office you will find her on an adventure with her family, spending time with her husband Tyler, a small business owner, and her two sons, Landen and Deven.

  • Tara Woods - Board Vice President

    Tara Woods and family moved back to McCall in 2015, where she started with the City of McCall Parks and Recreation Department as the Recreation Supervisor. She is also known to play a little pickleball, tennis, soccer, and any other short sport you can think of with the after-school program, where her 10-year-old has attended for 3 years. She first moved to McCall in 2005 as a MOSS graduate student and continued working with youth as a program coordinator with the Boys and Girls Club in Wyoming, a recreation coordinator with Nampa Parks and Recreation as well as a variety of youth projects throughout the Northwest. Originally from West Texas, Tara has made McCall her home. When not helping with a total home remodel project or crafting at home, Tara can be found outdoors throughout the seasons; xc and downhill skiing, snowshoeing, riding bikes, hiking, swimming, or paddling boarding.

  • Kim Mihlfeith - Board Secretary

    We are thankful for Kim who joined the PLCA board in 2017. Voted in as our Secretary in 2018 all while she was finishing up nursing school! Congrats to Kim for just accepting a position in the ER. Kim has two beautiful daughters, Lilli and Layla that have attended the PLCA program over the last few years. Now that Kim has gone and graduated she is looking forward to having some extra time for volunteering!

  • Erin Greaves - Board of Directors

    Erin's been working with nonprofits for children's programs for twenty years from YMCA, Youth Groups, Boy Scouts and even locally supporting MDEF. Non Profit work is her true passion. She joined PLCA as a Teacher in 2013 then Director in 2014. She transferred to a board member in 2015 when she began her position with the City. In 2018 she was voted in as the current president of the PLCA. She continues to collaborate closely with the community to continue the legacy of PLCA. Erin has three wonderful boys and if you've been lucky enough to taste her husband's chef skills, you know they are well fed!

  • Bre Anderson - Board of Directors

    Bre is currently the Children’s Librarian at the McCall Public Library as well as the Education and Programs Coordinator for Payette Children’s Forest. As a graduate of the MOSS program Bre loves everything STEAM! She is new to the board and is excited to bring her education background to the table. When she is not reading to kids or teaching science you can find her out in the mountains doing all the sports, walking her dog down the bike path, or curled up in her apartment with a good book.

  • Jennifer Caple - Board of Directors

    Jennifer is a licensed clinical social worker offering life coaching & counseling. She has 19 years of experience working with individuals of all genres, races and ages. Jen is certified in compassion fatigue, crucial conversations, critical incident stress management, EMDR and suicide prevention. Her career has included working in a variety of settings. In the school setting she has helped educate children on ways to identify and better manage emotions and relationships. She is currently the counselor at Heartland Alternative High. Additionally, Jen sits on the Children’s Community Medical Fund board. She is also currently the Director of the local Community Crisis Response Team. Jen is a great asset to the PLCA Board and PLCA families. Jen has two children Beau and Molly who have attended the after-school and summer programming.

Our Staff

  • Jessi Martin- Executive Director

    Jessi is originally from Oklahoma but moved to southeast Idaho in 2009. She attended the University of Idaho, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Wildlife. She then moved to McCall in 2022 to attend the McCall Outdoor Science School master program. While Jessi worked on her bachelor’s in Moscow she taught after school at a local elementary school. In 2023 she began working with PLCA4Kids as the STEAM contract teacher and fell in love with the program. Outside of teaching Jessi is a self-proclaimed birder, loves a good mystery book, and enjoys exploring the mountain town with her husband, great dane, and new puppy!

  • Madelyn Lathrop- Instructor

    Maddie is a seventeen-year-old junior in high school. She loves the outdoors and hanging out with her friends and family. Maddie spends her time participating in soccer and track but also enjoys days on the lake during the summer months. After high school, she plans to attended college and play soccer for her university. She is so excited to be apart of PLCA and can’t wait to continue working with the kids!

  • Payton Woolcott - Instructor

    Payton is currently a sixteen-year-old junior in high school. She has two lovely younger sisters who she takes care of while her parents are at work. Payton enjoys hanging out with her friends, playing softball, and paddle boarding. After high school, she hopes to attend the University of Idaho to study business and psychology. She is excited to continue working with the kids of PLCA!

  • Madison Jensen

    Madi was born in Boise but moved to McCall when she was 7. Now a 16 year old junior in high school she is loving spending time with all the students in after school. Madi loves paddle boarding, skiing, spending time outside and with her friends and family. After high school she plans to attend the University of Idaho to study Social Psychology. Until then she is excited to finish her highschool years with PLCA!

  • Employment

    Qualified applicants will be active leaders capable of implementing and developing fun and enriching children with opportunities to  assist  with administrative tasks with attention to detail and accuracy. You'll need to be able to think on your feet and most importantly, you will be capable of creating a safe and FUN program for enrolled youth.

    Minimum Requirements

    -Must be 16 years or older

    -Working toward a high school diploma

    -Background check required for 18+

    -Fluency (reading, writing, and speaking)

    Preferred Qualifications

    -Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred but not required

    -Experience in child care, youth development programs, and/or staff management a plus

    -Experience with social media, apps, digital communication devices, and other related software a bonus

    -CPR & FIRST AID certification (will provide training)

  • Volunteer

    We welcome and encourage volunteers to join us for the After-School Program and Summer Sensations for regular programming days, special events and field trips.

    PLCA4Kids is the perfect place to:

    -Strengthen your connection to our community and local youth

    - Earn volunteer hours and work on projects! Each year we have students from MDSD join the program to complete their senior projects

    -Introduce families and students to your organization or business through outreach

    -Get to know and become part of the PLCA4Kids team

    Volunteers are expected to follow MDSD, BRMES and PLCA rules and guidelines.

    Volunteers will need to fill out a Volunteer Application form prior to joining the programs.
